“Deep Inside – A Study of 10,000 Porn Stars” (from the Internet Adult Film Database) – WITH OUR ANALYSIS

20130220-115646.jpg

There’s a new “study” of sorts that has recently been done about porn performers — who they are, what they do, and what sort of sex acts are most popular in porn. It isn’t a formal study done by an academic, but is one done by someone interested in pornography, of the data available at a Wikipedia type of site for pornography. (The Internet Adult Film Database.) So the results aren’t exactly scientific, but they are somewhat revealing, and confirm just how depraved the current porn industry has increasingly become over the past few years.

Unsurprisingly, the growing trends are TEENS, anal sex, and infidelity, among others. Check out some of illuminating details below, excerpted from a blog post by the author of the study about the results of the study. We have put the author’s statements in quotes and italics, a few facts from the study summarized by us in regular text, and have added our own commentary and analysis in parentheses after each section,

[JonMillward.com] – “Porn stars of both genders have been progressively retiring earlier: in the ‘70s, men stayed in porn for an average of twelve years, and women for nine. Now men on average quit after four years, and women after three.”

(Gosh. If porn is so FUN, SAFE, LUCRATIVE and “EMPOWERING,” as so many porn performers and porn fans like to say it is, why are both men and women only staying in porn for 1/3 as long as they did in the past?? Maybe it’s because porn ISN’T really safe, fun, or empowering at all, as the sex acts and overall conditions get more and more brutal, which brings us to the next piece of information from the study…)

“Anal sex is an act that gets talked about a lot in ‘real life’. Porn is often blamed for warping men’s minds and making them believe that anal sex is better than vaginal sex, or that all women should do it. So, how does the 62% of female porn stars who do an anal scene at least once stat compare to the non-porn, real life equivalent?

Well, in 1992 a large national survey reported that only 16% of women aged 18–24 had tried anal sex. By 2010, another major survey, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, reported that the percentage of women who had tried anal by age 24 had risen to 32%, and one third of those had done it within the last month. So anal sex appears to be growing in popularity both in and out of porn—whether there’s a causal relationship there, it’s tough to say.”

(Although we can’t prove it, it’s logical to conclude that the increased prevalence in porn of anal sex has influenced its increased prevalence in real life, because of porn-using men wanting their girlfriends to submit to the same sex acts that they have regularly seen done and glamorized in porn, and that they have regularly masturbated to. There is lots of anecdotal evidence to support this.)

“Women in porn have been doing anal sex sooner over the last few decades though. I noticed that in the 1980s, they waited about two years after getting into the business before they did anal on camera; these days it’s more like six months.”

(This is just one of many confirmations of how porn is getting more hardcore, and more quickly so, in every way. Now that anal is very common in porn and something 62% of all female porn performers do at least once within six months, the porn industry has moved on to even more hardcore and damaging sex acts, such as “fisting,” “double vaginal penetration,” and “double anal penetration”…)

Regarding frequency of female roles in porn, here is the order of the top 6 out of many: (see info graphic at the bottom of this post, and the full blog post by the author at the link for the rest)

1. “TEEN” (1966 video titles)

2. “MILF” (964 titles)

3. “WIFE” (499 titles)

4. “CHEERLEADER” (370 titles)

5. “NURSE” (363 titles)

6. “DAUGHTER” (261 titles)

“It’s nice to see wife coming in third place, too, especially for fans of the institution of marriage. Unfortunately, on further investigation, I discovered that without exception every film title containing the word wife revolved around the concept of a man having sex with a spouse who wasn’t his own. Never mind.”

(Right. Never mind indeed. As we have pointed out elsewhere, pornography glamorizes, encourages and promotes infidelity. The above is just some more evidence to back up this sad fact.)

————————

Note that the author of the study questions the validity of this well-known quote below:

“Most girls who enter the porn industry do one video and quit. The experience is so painful, horrifying, embarrassing, humiliating for them that they never do it again.”

- Luke Ford (former pornography gossip columnist), speaking on CBS News.

The study author questions that statement because it doesn’t match with his informal study results of the unofficial website (IAFD) he based his study on that is maintained by a “handful of international contributors.” (I.e. Some porn fans.) But isn’t it possible that IAFD doesn’t include ALL porn titles, especially some of the NEWEST ones with the LEAST WELL KNOWN performers that don’t have any “fans” yet, because it is their first time? We think that might be possible…

In any case, the study author concedes that it might instead be THREE films that are done before the majority of women quit porn: 53% do 3 films or more, which means that 52% of all female performers (the majority of women in porn) do THREE FILMS OR LESS. This is still not exactly a ringing endorsement for the industry, especially in light of how much porn often pays in the very beginning — for “fresh faces.” So again, we can’t help but ponder…. If pornography is really that awesome, and women just LOOOVE having all that degrading brutal sex on camera, why would so many young women quit so quickly??

Also note that the author quotes another study that has been making the rounds of the media lately, which seems to conclude that women in porn are really super happy and healthy, etc. We contest those study results based on the fact that the only performers interviewed were those currently IN porn, and it’s a well documented fact that many performers don’t tell the truth about their experiences while still in porn. This is often because they need to remain in denial to get through the abuses that they are subjected to, and don’t want to negatively affect their own income by disillusioning their “fans” by telling them that they are really ACTING in their porn films. (And therefore don’t REALLY love all of the degrading, brutal and unsafe sex that they are paid to do.)

After many women LEAVE porn, they then openly admit that they LIED while they were in porn, and were not AT ALL happy and healthy while performing in pornography. (See our compilation of quotes from Jenna Jameson’s biography for a very good example of this: http://www.antipornography.org/Jenna_Jamesons_25_Reasons.html)

In conclusion, as informal and imperfect as this recent study of IAFD is, it is still very interesting and quite informative, so we encourage you to check the author’s blog post about it and the full infographic at the link below.
