'Potential Prostitutes' Site Lets Users Submit Women's Names AndCharges To Remove Them

20121230-080730.jpg

WOW. A new site with user-submitted content called Potential Prostitutes is ABUSING and EXTORTING women. So disturbing! Check out the details below.

[Huffington Post Women] -- The website allows users to label any woman a "potential prostitute" by submitting her photo, phone number and location. This information is then posted on the site without the woman's consent. If someone wishes to be removed from the site, they are asked to pay a one-time fee of $99.95.

According to the website, Potential Prostitutes "operate[s] based on the efforts from motivated members of their local community who have at one point or another come into contact with a potential prostitute online and feel they can be a threat." The mission statement goes on to thank "brave visitors for stepping forward to tell the world what it should already know, that exposing online prostitutes discourages other potential offenders from doing the very same thing." Yes, this website actually exists.

The FAQ section makes it clear that the founders of Potential Prostitutes -- who have yet to make themselves known, Boing Boing reported -- do not care whether the accusations of prostitution are libelous and state that the profiles will remain published unless someone pays to remove them.

LAST CALL FOR YEAR-END DONATIONS TO HELP PREVENT & COMBAT THE DEVASTATING HARMS OF PORNOGRAPHY, PROSTITUTION, SEX TRAFFICKING & SEXUAL SLAVERY

20121229-075615.jpg Greetings friends! We work very hard all year round to combat the devastating harms of pornography, prostitution, sex trafficking and sexual slavery. Will you help us do more in 2013?? It's easy! Just click on the link below to make a secure tax-deductible donation! Thanks! ~ “The only thing that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” ~ Edmund Burke ~~ http://www.antipornography.org/donate.html

MORE INFO: We would LOVE it if our organization was independently wealthy or well-funded by a big foundation so that we could have lots of full-time paid staff and carry out big projects and major campaigns, but unfortunately this is not currently the case. So, like most small 501(c)(3) nonprofits who put in many long, unpaid, volunteer hours of work every week to do OUR part for the cause, (and who often have to pay out of our own pockets to cover basic establishment and operating expenses), we depend on the financial support of good people like YOU to continue our work and to seriously expand it! :-)

In 2012 we reached more than ONE MILLION people with our comprehensive website and with our many social networking sites at YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, WordPress and here at Blogger. We increased our number of supporters for our work by several thousand people. And most importantly, we achieved many great successes, such as helping people to quit using porn, and helping others to start speaking out against it. We also gave voice to a number of victims who have been harmed by pornography and sexual exploitation by sharing their moving stories at the HARM STORIES page at our website. http://www.antipornography.org/harm_stories.html

This is great, but MANY MORE MILLIONS of people need to be reached, and MUCH MORE is needed to be DONE to help the many millions of people, (especially vulnerable women and children) who are suffering the many abuses of dehumanizing pornography, exploitative prostitution, life-threatening sex trafficking and often deadly sexual slavery! With the financial support of a number of caring people -- even of smaller donations that all add up -- THIS CAN HAPPEN!!

So we are hoping that EACH ONE OF YOU who reads this is willing to do YOUR part to support this vital work to make the world a better place for everyone in 2013 and beyond. (And if you can't afford to donate, please at least pass this message along by liking and sharing this post. Thanks!)

To anyone who steps up and helps out with the cause: Your kindness and generosity are REALLY appreciated and will help more people than you can possibly know! THANK YOU!! :-)

P.S. If anyone knows of any individuals or foundations who would be open to providing MAJOR funding for our nonprofit, please feel free to let us know, either here or via the CONTACT page of our website. http://www.antipornography.org/contact.html

Also, if anyone would like to help us with fundraising, we have many options with the basics set up, and would be thrilled to have your help in moving them forward! (I.e. Causes.com, Razoo.com, FundRazr, EBay/Mission Fish, Amazon Programs, Google, YouTube, GuideStar, Cars4Causes, Facebook apps, etc.) Thanks! :-)

Finally, we can always use COMPETENT, TRUSTWORTHY, COMMITTED AND RELIABLE VOLUNTEERS. So... if you're interested in giving your time and energy instead of a financial contribution, that would be very much appreciated also! (Just contact us via the page linked above.)

THANKS AGAIN, GOOD PEOPLE, TO WHOEVER IS WILLING TO DO *YOUR* PART TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION TO CREATING A SAFER AND BETTER WORLD FOR EVERYONE. YOU ARE APPRECIATED, AND YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS OF ANY TYPE OR AMOUNT REALLY *DO* MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

DONATE NOW: http://www.antipornography.org/donate.html

P.S. Here is our favorite video for some inspiration for all of you. We REALLY CAN make the world a better place for EVERYONE -- IF ALL OF US use our own two hands!!

GOOD NEWS! Twitter Users Help Shut Down Child Abuse Accounts Posting Child Pornography

Concerned Twitter users have exposed several accounts posting child porn and have gotten them removed! Yay! :-) What should be noted here is that speaking up and reporting abuse and images that violate the policies of a service like Twitter CAN make a difference, so we urge all of you to please do so as much as possible! ~ Check out the details of the story below for some useful information and some positive inspiration. :-)

– NOTE: “NSPCC” is an acronym for the UK organization the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

[The Huffington Post UK] — Several Twitter accounts which were publishing images of child abuse have been suspended following a barrage of complaints from users of the social networking site.

Around 30 complaints were made to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) about the indecent images on Sunday night.

TWEET by @NSPCC:

People have expressed concern about a twitter feed with disturbing images of children. We’ve alerted CEOP. They are looking at it urgently.

Twitter users also contacted the NSPCC expressing their concern over the accounts, while the hashtags #report999tmmhot and #Reportloveinna47 – the Twitter handles of two of the accounts in question – started trending.

TWEET by @LOHANTHONY:

please report this DISGUSTING account please @999tmmhot #Report999tmmHot

On Monday, the NSPCC congratulated those who had alerted CEOP about the offensive images.

TWEET by @NSPCC:

Action being taken against twitter pages with abuse images. Well done to twitter users for exposing them. BBC report: http://t.co/PqjPkKek

A spokesman for the NSPCC said: “Sadly sex offenders will use any means available to share disturbing images. It’s important to remember that children are abused when they are made and sharing them encourages this abuse. WE ALSO KNOW THAT ONE IN THREE PEOPLE WHO VIEW THESE IMAGES WILL GO ON TO ABUSE CHILDREN THEMSELVES.”

(Emphasis added in the above paragraph by AntiPornography.org to point out that WATCHING porn is often not a passive activity of engaging in a “private fantasy”, but frequently leads to ACTING OUT REAL ABUSE IN REAL LIFE ON REAL VICTIMS, as a result of the viewing of (and masturbating to) pornography. These victims are almost always vulnerable and exploited women and children.)

“We are working with CEOP to catch the people responsible and will be speaking to Twitter and other social media platforms about what more can be done to stop the trade in these images.”

It is not yet clear how many accounts were reported to CEOP but the internet safety team said all of the accounts had been suspended.

GOOD NEWS! UK Prime Minister David Cameron plans to implement compulsory Internet filter prompts to protect children from online pornography

Please read the details below. Hopefully this will encourage other countries to follow the UK’s excellent example of protecting children from the horrific abuses of hardcore Internet pornography!

[Guardian] — David Cameron has announced “radical” plans to help parents protect their children online by prompting them to tailor their computer settings to block internet pornography, violence and other unsuitable websites.

The prime minister, who described such material as “a silent attack on innocence”, said the proposals were intended to safeguard childhood and make sure it was “untainted by the worries and complexities of adulthood”.

Under the plan, people switching on a new computer will be asked whether there are children in the house. If there are, parents will then be prompted to tailor their internet filters. The technology will also show parents how to restrict access to social media sites after a time of their choosing, to narrow the number of sites that younger children can visit, and to block access to certain sites altogether.

As backup, said the prime minister, the filters against the most obvious threats – such as pornography and self-harm sites – would remain on if parents repeatedly clicked OK to get through the filter set-up quickly. Providers would also have to verify the age of the person setting the controls so that children could not set up the filters.

Writing in the Daily Mail, Cameron said the government had opted for the system because the evidence suggested that having “default on” filters as standard on all new computers was a waste of time.

The blanket-filter system, he said, was so restrictive that parents had found they were unable to access such services as on-demand TV and had simply turned the filters off because they were too annoying.

“The point is we need a more sophisticated system than this – one that allows parents to tailor exactly what their children can see,” said Cameron. “This is what child safety experts recommend.”

He added: “With our new system, every parent will be prompted to protect their child online. If they don’t make choices, protection will be automatically on. No other government has taken such radical steps before. And once all this is in place, Britain will have the most robust internet child protection measures of any country in the world – bar none.”

The Year in Porn: James Deen, Sunny Leone, Measure B, Syphilis and More (PHOTOS)

Here’s “The Year In Porn,” from one low to the next! Syphilis! Being sued for ripping off “Fifty Shades of Grey”! Octomom and her solo sex video! Etc. etc. Feel free to check out the unfortunate details of the syphilis outbreak below, and then the other “lowlights” at the link …

[The Daily Beast] — Syphilis: In August, most porn companies briefly suspended production in the midst of a syphilis scare. “The Syphilis outbreak shows where the industry is at right now,” said porn star Kristina Rose. “It is a little seedy. Everyday, I hear another rumor or story about shadiness on set.”

Soon, it emerged that veteran male performer Mr. Marcus altered the positive results of an STD test to easily outwit the industry’s testing protocol. This at a time when Pornland was arguing to the public that Measure B and similar efforts were unnecessary in the face of the industry’s foolproof self-regulation. Rose, however, blames the sour economy. “Sometimes in porn, your private parts get a cold,” she said. “A few years ago, when there was money around people were willing to take a week off. But in the bad economy, people are doing desperate things.”

GREAT NEWS! President Obama Has Signed the Child Protection Act into Law – Penalties Are Strongly Increased for Child Pornographers

Please read the details of this important story below, and please don’t forget to like, comment on, and share this good news to help support the cause of fighting against child pornography and ALL forms of sexual exploitation and abuse. Also please remember that ADULT porn glamorizes, promotes and fuels CHILD pornography, so taking a stand against ADULT PORN is vital to combating CHILD PORN as well. Thanks for your support! :-)

[Broward Net] — The Child Protection Act (H.R. 6063) provides law enforcement officials with additional resources to combat the growing threat of child pornography and online exploitation of children. The House of Representatives passed the bill by voice vote in August, and the Senate approved the legislation by unanimous consent on Nov. 26.

“Now that this bill is law, we can protect our children across the nation from online predators,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz. “The Child Protection Act works to eradicate the spread of child pornography online by addressing it aggressively and quickly, and ensuring that investigators have every available resource to track down predators. With the input of law enforcement officials and child protection advocates, we crafted this bipartisan, common-sense legislation to help stop child exploitation. With President Obama’s signature, this law will now be able to help rescue the thousands of children suffering from unthinkable abuse.”

“Internet child pornography may be the fastest growing crime in America, increasing an average of 150% per year,” said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith. “According to recent estimates, there are as many as 100,000 fugitive sex offenders in the U.S. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reports that Texas has the second largest number of registered sex offenders nationwide. We must do more to protect the most innocent among us—our children.

“We introduced the Child Protection Act to combat crimes against our children. The Senate passed the bill by unanimous consent and today the President signed it into law. This bipartisan bill increases penalties for child pornography offenses that involve young children and strengthens protections for child witnesses and victims. At a time when Washington is known for partisanship, it is reassuring to see bipartisan legislation enacted. When it comes to protecting our children, there are no Republicans and no Democrats, only concerned citizens.”

The Slave and the Porn Star: Sexual Trafficking and Pornography (NEW Peer-Reviewed Research Article)

Hey everyone! An IMPORTANT new peer-reviewed study by Pornography Harms on the links between pornography and sex trafficking has just been published! Please check it out, like it and share it to help spread the word so that people will understand how porn fuels trafficking and is otherwise linked to it, and so that they will also know that if they are against sex trafficking, then they MUST also take a stand against pornography! Thanks!

[Porn Harms Research] — The Slave and the Porn Star: Sexual Trafficking and Pornography

ARTICLE SUMMARY:

In the past decade, there has been an explosion of interest in human trafficking. Eliminating human trafficking has become a foreign and domestic policy goal for many countries, including the United States. Following the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 and the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, also in 2000, focus on the issue developed further. Human trafficking is now the topic of numerous articles, conferences, and studies, with many different aspects of trafficking being investigated. However, one aspect of human trafficking gets little attention—namely, the connection between pornography and trafficking (particularly sex trafficking).

This article argues that there are a number of links between pornography and sex trafficking and that curbing pornography can reduce sex trafficking. The first two sections describe the links between pornography and sex trafficking. The third section makes the case that legislators and prosecutors should give greater consideration to the relationship between pornography and sex trafficking as they determine budgetary and law enforcement priorities and as they make recommendations for how to address this link at the federal level.

P.S. Please note that we are sharing this article because of the value of the findings of the study, but we don't agree with all of the recommendations, especially the cited legal approach. Thanks.

GOOD NEWS! We recently purchased the domain ANTIPORN.org to be used as a shortcut and it no longer goes to hardcore porn ads! :-)

Previously we only owned ANTI-PORN.org, with a HYPHEN, but some people would omit the hyphen by mistake and they would end up at antiporn.org (no hyphen), which was owned by someone else, and which was being used to advertise hardcore degrading PORNOGRAPHY.

We tried for years to obtain this domain and explained the situation to the domain owner, but he was basically holding it hostage until we would cough up a very substantial amount of money. So after years of him not being willing to sell the domain we finally decided for the greater good to purchase the domain at the price requested.

So now ANTIPORN.org can be used as a valid shortcut for AntiPornography.org and anyone who types it into a browser address bar will end up being routed to OUR WEBSITE, instead of arriving at a page where they would be deluged with offensive hardcore porn ads! :-) This is big success for us and we are very happy to share it with you! :-)

Please feel free to share it with others by liking, sharing and commenting on this post. ~ Many thanks to all of your for your ongoing support of this important cause! :-)

Online Porn King Fabian Thylmann Arrested for Tax Evasion In Belgium – Owns YouPorn, PornHub, etc.

Good news! The owner of mega porn company Manwin, which owns YouPorn, PornHub, Brazzers and more, has been arrested. Yay for karma and justice! Hopefully this is just the beginning of the end for his corrupt and exploitative pornography empire. (Which is in fact just filmed prostitution.) Check out the details below.

[Gawker] Manwin is a multimillion-dollar, international porn giant that owns more than 35 properties, including popular brands like YouPorn, PornHub and Brazzers. Now its owner, who has built a reputation as a skilled, ruthless businessman has been arrested in Belgium under suspicion of tax evasion.

The man CNBC has called “The new king of porn,” Manwin’s 34-year-old German managing partner Fabian Thylmann, was arrested at the Brussels airport today, according to trade magazine Xbiz. Manwin has slowly amassed an unprecedented holding of companies by taking a technology- driven approach to the porn industry, especially through its empire of free “tube” sites, like YouPorn.

Thylmann has aimed to be a different type of porn kingpin, playing up the high-tech aspect of Manwin instead of the sex parts. He’s earned an image as a sort of Mark Zuckerberg of porn, even convincing a Wall Street investment bank to give him a nine-figure loan in 2011. Manwin’s YouPorn and PornHub boasted 5.5 billion page views in July, compared to Wikipedia’s 6.3 billion, according to Germany’s Bild newspaper. More recently, Manwin has spearheaded an effort to stop the the new .XXX domain for porn sites. Manwin sued those administrating the new domain, arguing they’re monopolistic and are attempting to extort existing porn businesses.

But today’s arrest suggests there’s more to Manwin than its technological innovation and industry leadership. The news of Thylmann’s arrest shook insiders among southern California’s porn industry this morning, where Manwin wields huge influence but has also been viewed with increasing suspicion as its dominance has grown. Manwin keeps its operations under tight wraps, and some in Porn Valley see the arrest as the start of a long unravelling. Mike South, the irascible porn gossip blogger who has made a career out of needling Manwin, is predictably gloating today. He wrote:

“Many is the time I told Fabian I would live to see him taken away in handcuffs…..The good is I did, the bad is it isn’t for what he should have been arrested for, the good is it’s likely just the beginning. Whose laughing now Fabian?”

“Sexy Baby” powerfully shows the negative impact of the mainstreaming of pornography and its infiltration of social media on girls and young women in our culture. ALL TEEN GIRLS, YOUNG WOMEN AND THEIR PARENTS SHOULD WATCH THIS FILM, IDEALLY TOGETHER, and then check out the Sexy Baby Movie website and discuss all of the issues addressed by the movie and the site! http://www.sexybabymovie.com

So please like, comment on and share this post to help spread the word, and don’t please don’t forget to also LIKE AND SHARE the Sexy Baby Movie Facebook page. Thanks!

From SexyBabyMovie.com:

“Sexy Baby is the first documentary film to put faces to a seismic cultural shift: the cyber age is creating a new sexual landscape…. Most youngsters know someone who has emailed or texted a naked photo of themselves. Many kids have accidentally or intentionally had their first introduction to sex be via hardcore online porn. Facebook has created an arena where kids compete to be “liked” and constantly worry about what image to portray – much of what was once private is now made public. And the list goes on.

With this vast collection of information, we decided to tackle the topic through personal storytelling. At first glance, it may seem difficult to understand why we put a former porn star, a plastic surgery patient and a 12-year-old girl, in the same film. But this was no accident. We found that the adult entertainment world, represented in our film by Nakita, is trickling into the mainstream world and affecting both Laura’s and Winnifred’s lives – but in profoundly different ways. Nakita becomes an ironic role model of sorts. Laura is an embracer of mainstream culture. And Winnifred is our eyes and ears, constantly questioning the status quo. Please visit our character page to meet them.”

Mother and Daughter Do Porn Together But Don’t Touch Lips Because That Would Be Weird

WOW.The porn industry continues to embrace depravity with mother/daughter INCEST PORN: ‘”I enjoy being with my mom”, says Monica, (22) who dropped out school in ninth grade and got her mom (56) started in the porn biz before following suit. “During the scenes, I think about how we’re going to be filthy rich.”‘

OUCH! :-( Well at least she’s honest about what her true motivation is for being in porn, and is not selling it as “empowerment.” But still! How terribly disturbing and tragic. And equally as upsetting, if not more so, how horrifying is it that some men (and boys) actually find this sort of porn AROUSING and therefore create a DEMAND for it. :-( In any case, read the sad details of the mother and daughter porn duo below…

[Gawker] — Family-themed adult films are nothing new.

In fact, one of the most successful and long-running porn series of all time — Taboo — revolves around parents seducing their children and vice versa.

With that in mind — meet The Sexxxtons.

Unlike the pretend incest of Taboo, Monica and Jessica Sexxxton are the real deal. The mother-daughter duo resides in Tampa, Florida, and has been shooting smut in tandem for over a year.

But let’s get one thing straight: The two might have full-on, balls-to-the-wall sex with the same guy at the same time on camera, but they absolutely don’t touch each other while the red light is blinking.

“We don’t have a problem doing two-on-one,” 56-year-old Jessica told The Huffington Post. “We will have sex with one man, but not interact with each other.”

Sound simple enough, right? It’s not. “It’s not east to do,” 22-year-old Monica insists. “Our lips never touch and that can be a problem when filming.”

Despite their claim that a red line has been established, a cursory Google search on their names reveals that the Sexxxtons have no problem dancing around the legal boundaries of their questionable endeavor, most often with very few articles of clothing on.

For the record, Florida requires a female sex organ to have been penetrated by a male sex organ for incest to have been committed, so it seems the Sexxxtons are free to feel each other up to their freaky heart’s content.

“I enjoy the sex and I enjoy being with my mom,” says Monica, who dropped out school in ninth grade and got her mom started in the porn biz before following suit. “During the scenes, I think about how we’re going to be filthy rich.”

Disturbing news: More women tuning in to porn, says French study; Fueled by Internet, Video On Demand

Check out this disheartening news from France about women watching more pornography, particularly young and inexperienced women. What a horrible way to first be exposed to sex, as most of the women watching porn — 72% — acknowledge that porn is “highly degrading” to women, and 57% feel it is too violent! (That is because most pornography IS very violent and highly degrading!)

So do you think what is happening in France is representative of elsewhere? Are the women that you know who are watching porn, especially young women, watching more of it recently? Sadly from our own research and experience it seems to be a global trend, which needless to say we are working very hard to help reverse! We hope you will work with us to help stop this alarming trend.

[NY Daily News - PARIS] — Who said porn was a man’s thing? A study released on Friday challenges the myth, showing that four fifths of French women have watched a porn movie before — one in two of them without their partners.

Fully 82 percent of women questioned said they had watched an X-rated film at least once before, compared to 99 percent of men, according to the study of 579 women carried out by the IFOP polling institute in September.

Their number has jumped from 73 percent in 2006, and from as little as 23 percent in 1992 according to a major INSERM study on French sexuality carried out at the time, IFOP’s Francois Kraus told AFP.

“In the space of a few years it has become an accepted thing for women to watch pornography, partly thanks to the Internet, and video-on-demand services that made porn more accessible and took away the shame factor,” he said.

Sixty two percent of women said they watched porn to spice up their sex life with a partner, but fully one in two had also done so on their own.

“Women are now consuming porn by themselves,” Kraus said. “That goes hand in hand with a widening of sexual behaviour, and changing attitudes towards sex toys or fellatio for instance.”

“And of course it raises the issue of masturbation, one of the great taboos of female sexuality. There is a real generational break, with women in their forties and younger much more willing to admit the practice.”

So what do women make of the films on offer? Women attached most importance to a natural-looking cast, a priority for 40 percent, while “realistic” sex scenes were essential for 35 percent, and for 48 percent of under 35-year-olds.

Most women felt strongly that the industry caters only to male fantasies, a view shared by 71 of women against 61 percent of men.

Likewise 72 percent felt the films on offer were “highly degrading” to women, against 50 percent of men, and 57 percent said they were too violent, compared to 41 percent of men.

Overall, women were still far less assiduous watchers than men, with only five percent of porn consumers watching frequently — once a month or more — against 34 percent of men.

Another 13 percent watched a few times a year, compared to 29 percent of men.

Frequent women viewers were younger, making up 17 percent of under-25s against less than five percent of the over-35s. And women with no sex experience were the most eager, making up a third of all regular viewers.

Based on a representative sample of 1,101 people aged 18 and over, the study was commissioned by Marc Dorcel, a provider of pornographic content, to mark the launch of a new porn site targeting the women’s market, Dorcelle.com.

Powerful New Interview with Pornland Author Gail Dines: Pornography and Gender Politics Within Neoliberalism

Check out this thought-provoking and informative new interview with Pornland author and feminist Gail Dines on the harms of pornography! (@GailDines)

VINCE EMANUELE: Professor let’s begin by discussing the overall scale of the pornography business. When did this trend begin?

GAIL DINES: I think if you really want to talk about the growth, you’re really looking at a $97 billion dollar a year industry. That’s a rough figure. It’s actually very difficult to come up with any accurate figures of revenue for the porn industry. If you really want to understand how the industry became so big, then you really have to understand the role the internet played in the process of demand and consumption. First of all, the internet made pornography affordable, accessible, and anonymous. Those are the three things that have actually increased consumer demand. Now what you see is a move away from the Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler soft-core, to medium soft-core pornography, towards a more hard-core industry.

And one of the reasons for this is because so many men are using so much pornography at such an early age now, that what you see is a boredom factor. So in a way the pornography industry has dug a whole for itself, because it’s gotten so hard-core so fast, that they really don’t know how to keep up with demand. Remember, we’re talking about an industry–a global industry. They don’t want to break the law. So they have limits to what they can, and can’t do to the female body. You can’t actually murder her on the screen, but they do everything else they can possibly do to her on the set. So, the industry has become huge because of the internet and a global player because of the size and scope of the industry. Once you have so much money involved, then you can have your own public relations groups, lobbying groups, you can buy politicians and cozy up to the all the capitalist enterprises. Overall, we’ve seen a massive change in the scope and size of pornography in the post-internet world.

EMANUELE: And how about particularly in American culture? If you look across the globe, do you see various cultures and nations that are dealing with this issue better, or worse than America?

DINES: Well, let me begin by saying the level of pornification and hypersexualization of this culture, and Western culture in general, has taken people by surprise. I’ve been traveling around the world giving lectures about this issue and most of the countries I’ve been absolutely do not know what to do about it, because they’re beginning to see changes int he social construction of the identities of young people and some of it is due to pornography, not all of it, but I would say a fair amount is due to the porn industry. First, in the United States, where the vast majority of pornography is made, something like 70-80% of the world’s pornography is made in Los Angeles, California. Of course, that pornography, via the internet, gets shipped all over the world.

So, think about this for a minute: there’s a handful of predatory capitalists, living in the Los Angeles area, who are actually shaping the sexual template of the Western World. This is a form of sexual colonization. It’s their imagery, and the way they think about sex. Let’s be clear, pornography is not sex. Pornography is the industrialization of sex. And just like America controls most industries, it too controls the porn industry. Now, other countries are indeed trying to get a handle on this. For example, Canada is having a lot of conferences and discussions around what to do. I’ve been to Norway where they’re talking about it. I’m going to Iceland soon to a government conferences on how to limit access to pornography, and what to do about the pornification of their society. This country, as far as I can see, is doing the least amount of any Western country. At least as far as I can see.

Why Aren’t More Porn Performers for Measure B? – Ex performer Jennie Ketcham exposes denial about UNsafe sex in porn

Check out this GREAT post by ex porn performer Jennie Ketcham (@BecomingJennie) on why some misguided people don’t support condoms in porn. Jennie really tells it like it is as always! Needless to say the porn performers and users in denial that she describes are NOT happy about her exposing their “issues” motivating their uncaring and/or self destructive position of deciding to NOT Vote YES on B. (“B” is Measure B, the Los Angeles County Measure that recently passed requiring permits for porn shoots to help enforce the already existing laws requiring condoms and other health and safety protections in porn.)

Some of these misguided porn users and participants are leaving deluded and unkind comments at Huffington Post, so it would be very helpful if some of you good anti-porn people would drop by over there and let Jennie know that there are at least SOME other caring people in the world like her who don’t think having an entire industry engaging in degrading and unprotected risky sex for the entertainment of others is acceptable. Thanks! :-)

[Huffington Post] — WHY AREN’T MORE PORN PERFORMERS FOR MEASURE B?

— By Jennifer Ketcham

Why aren’t more porn performers for Measure B? Does anybody else think it’s strange that they don’t want to wear condoms? Are Aurora Snow and Jenna Jameson really the only girls who said “Yes?” Why would it preferable to be sheathless with a partner who has potentially had sex with 10 to 50 different people within the required 30-day test window? Is it because of the company executives’ and Free Speech Coalition’s position on the issue, and does the issue require an all-or-none, for-us-or-against-us, united front to make porn seem like a cogent professional industry? Is it really about freedom of speech? My gut tells me that some performers are demanding to remain condom free because admitting that a condom would enhance the level of personal safety would simultaneously be admitting that not wearing a condom, and thus participation in the industry as a whole, is unsafe in practice.

In my Cal State Northridge social psychology class, we learned about Leon Festinger’s cognitive dissonance theory, and though no expert, I am a firm believer that it is applicable here. The simplified concept poses that we cannot have two conflicting ideas at the same time because the conflict will cause discomfort and dissonance. My argument is that a porn performer cannot think, “This is unhealthy behavior,” and then continue behaving that way because it will cause emotional and cognitive discord. A drug addict must hit rock bottom and realize continued abuse will most definitely kill him. An obese person must realize that the unhealthy lifestyle she lives and her relationship with food will inevitably lead to death. And while it may have randomly occurred to some porn performers that the business practices unsafe sex, others have had to catch serious diseases to realize that performing within the industry is not a healthy or safe occupation. Justifications and rationalizations could not squash the uncomfortable feelings anymore. Thoughts, attitude and behavior had to change.

If this is really a safe, self-regulated industry and the issue is solely based on freedom of speech and reduction of government waste, where are the thousands of men and women who were once performers, are now retired, and still believe that the industry is safe and self-regulated? Why aren’t they using their right to free speech to stand up for the industry from which they came? Just another guess, but I’d say that if you are not performing — or making money off those who do — you probably don’t want to relive that part of your history because the concept of who you once were clashes with the concept of who you are today. What’s more, if you’re a mere viewer and adamantly against performers wearing condoms, citing that participation in the adult industry is totally safe and self-regulated, yet you have no actual experience in or intimate relationships with those in the industry, you too would be led to experience cognitive dissonance if you were to entertain any other ideas and not change your behavior. If you believe that the people you are masturbating to are not actually having fun, or that they are hurt by participating or have feelings that aren’t congruent with the images that help you to ejaculate, you will no longer be able to masturbate to them.

I once attempted to enforce my own condom rule. It was with a man who had performed in scenes I found to be less safe than my own style of performing — but I had been rationalizing the safety of my scene choice for as long as I’d been in the business. I drew an imaginary line between scenes I chose to do and scenes I would convince myself were less safe than mine. The truth is neither scene is what one would consider “safe,” because both scenes involved unprotected sex with people paid to have unprotected sex. I was unable to see that at the time because I was performing in unsafe, unprotected sex scenes. A 30-day test is a joke if he or she has potentially had sex with 10 to 50 people. But drawing that line made me feel like what I was doing was more safe and thus, inherently better. As long as I could rationalize my own behavior, and ignore contradictory opinions and facts about the dangers of my occupation, I could continue working.

This is not a competency issue, nor is it an issue of intellectual prowess. I am not arguing that performers are somehow less thoughtful than the average person, or comparing performers in this chosen profession and those struggling with drug addiction or obesity. I am simply stating that once a person admits, to his or her innermost self, that the behavior in which they are participating is apt to kill them, thoughts, attitude and behavior must change for that person to continue living a happy and peaceful life.

200 Women’s Rights Groups in Europe Seek to Prohibit Purchasing of Sex, Help Prostituted Women Exit

GOOD NEWS! Women’s rights groups in Europe are saying NO to prostitution & calling for buying sex to be made illegal! This is vitally important for many reasons, as explained in the article below. Also please note that prostitution and PORNOGRAPHY are connected in multiple ways, including:

1) Pornography is a form of prostitution, it’s just filmed for others to purchase and use for sexual gratification

2) Pornography glamorizes and fuels prostitution

3) Women in prostitution are trained by pornography to learn how to behave and what to do with their “johns”

4) Many women in the porn industry openly or privately also engage in conventional prostitution as an additional source of income

So BOTH must be fought against to stop the continuous cycle of each fueling and legitimizing the harms of the other, as well as sex trafficking and sexual slavery. We can help to do this by following the excellent example of these determined women’s rights groups in Europe and joining together and taking a strong uncompromising stand against the mainstreaming and acceptance of ALL forms of sexual exploitation and abuse.

[IBTimes] — An umbrella group of women’s rights activists in Europe is calling on the European Union to illegalize prostitution across the EU.

The European Women’s Lobby (EWL), on behalf of about 200 NGOs, along with Fondation Scelles and Mouvement du Nid France, told members of the European Parliament that prostitution “is a form of violence, an obstacle to equality, a violation of human dignity, and of human rights.”

Among other measures, the campaigners are seeking to remove repressive measures against prostitutes; the criminalization of all forms of procuring; the development of alternatives and exit programs for those in prostitution; the prohibition of the purchase of a sexual act; and the development of prevention policies in the countries where prostitutes originate.

“Anyone who knows anything about the reality of prostitution for the hundreds of thousands of women in Europe whom it has trapped cannot fail to endorse this call for urgent action from the EU and its member states,” said Viviane Teitelbaum, EWL’S president, in a statement.

Grégoire Théry, secretary-general of Mouvement du Nid France, declared: “We clearly see that the abolition of prostitution is a shared value across Europe. … EU policies on trafficking won’t achieve results as long as the impunity of procurers and sex-buyers is not addressed.”

The proposals have the support of at least 36 European MEPs, BBC reported.

“I am very pleased that the EWL has had the courage and foresight to initiate this campaign,” said Proinsias de Rossa, MEP.

It is high time for us to open our eyes to the reality of prostitution in our societies, and to its absolute incompatibility with the values of gender equality and human dignity that the European Union espouses and to which it is legally bound.”

The campaigners cited a number of staggering statistics related to prostitution:

*Up to 95 percent of prostitutes suffered some form of violence – including rape, incest and pedophilia — before joining the sex trade.

*90 percent of prostitutes would like to quit the business, but feel trapped in it.

*62 percent of women prostitutes reported having been raped.

*68 percent of women in prostitution suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

*A pimp earns as much as 110,000 euros ($144,000) annually per prostitute under his control.

*Up to 95 percent of prostitutes in the UK are heavy drug users.

*After the illegal drug trade, prostitution is the biggest moneymaker for global organized crime.

“The system of prostitution represents a backwater of inequality, a place where violence and oppression are thinly veiled by a distorted image of equality through commercial exchange,” said Rada Boric, executive member of EWL.

EWL further noted that in two European countries which largely decriminalized prostitution, the problems of sex workers have not eased.

For example, in the Netherlands, up to 90 percent of women employed in brothels in 2008 were victims of trafficking.

“The most important thing to understand about prostitution is that imposing sexual intercourse with money is a form of violence that shouldn’t be accepted,” EWL spokeswoman Pierrette Pape told BBC.

“If we understand that, we can then put comprehensive policies into place that will change mentalities and respect gender equality between women and men.”
