CELEBGATE: Why aren’t we talking about pornography? By a young pro-feminist man (via Feminist Current)

Check out this excellent post on the leaking of celebrity nude photos, by a young pro-feminist man, Jonah Mix, calling out other leftist males for not being anti-porn:

“I’ve repeatedly heard people online say that Celebgate isn’t about sex, but violence and abuse. What they fail to realize, of course, is that the two are inseparable in a sexuality constructed by pornography.

Despite this seemingly obvious fact, in the last two weeks I’ve seen no less than a half-dozen folks on the general Left attempt to prove their feminist credentials by recommending that men avoid Celebgate photos and instead pleasure themselves with “consenting” women online. A few even expressed some kind of bewilderment regarding men’s motivations. After all, why look at a boring old nude photo of Hillary Duff when you could watch all sorts of painful, body-punishing sex acts played out against women who really want it? Aren’t you a feminist, dude??

No man can see a female celebrity’s illegally obtained photographs posted online and enthusiastically click the download button, tissues in hand, without first being trained in a very specific sexualized disregard for women’s boundaries – an eroticism where the thrill doesn’t come despite the knowledge that the women involved is horrified and ashamed, but *because* of it. And while this eroticism has been around for thousands of years, pornography has allowed men and boys to be indoctrinated into it in a way that we’ve never seen before.”

SEX DOESN’T SELL: The Decline of British Porn – “Regulation has killed it. Age-verification is killing us”

GOOD NEWS! The UK porn business is declining due to regulation like age-verification. Hopefully the U.S. will follow! ~~~

“The industry is imploding,” the director of a pay-per-view adult television channel says. “If there was less free porn around, my business would be stronger.” Jerry Barnett, an industry lobbyist, and founder of Sex and Censorship, thinks the UK business “has shrunk by over 90%” in the past seven years. [...]

“The tubes gave the typical surfer all the free content he would like. That has cannibalised the monetisation of all adult content. I blame it on hubris. We thought it was always going to be good, that no one would mess with our business model. We believed that people would still pay for something they could get for free.” He believes there has been an 80% drop in the number of UK businesses. “Regulation has killed it a bit too. The age-verification is killing us,” he says.

This excellent article also exposes how many young women REGRET the porn they make, and how callous pornographers are about the women begging to get the porn they were in removed:

“Every two or three weeks we get a call from one of our performers, mainly in the Czech Republic, asking us to remove something. They say ‘My boyfriend will split up with me’ or ‘He has taken my baby away’. Some of them are really, really distressed. It is a horrible part … it is an upsetting part [of the job]. There is nothing we can do. The girls wanted to shoot, we pay them a lot of money … ” he says, flatly.

“We tell them it is going on the internet. We don’t pretend it is for our own consumption. But once a video is on the internet, there is nothing we can do. We have to say to the girls: ‘I’m sorry’. They say: ‘I’ll pay you.’ But there is nothing we can do.”

His response of course is a lie. They COULD accept a fee to remove the content. They’re clearly just too greedy to do so.

Anyway, feel free to bring up this fact to any porn watchers you know — that no matter how enthusiastic a woman in porn looks, (because she is ACTING and being PAID), that it’s entirely likely that she regrets that porn being shot, and would do anything to get it removed. And that anyone watching it is just contributing to the misery and regret of these women.

Why Are We So Obsessed With Nude Photos of Women? – “This is really about humiliating women” Gail Dines

Here’s a powerful article that addresses the connections between pornography and celebrity photo leaks. ~~

[Mashable] — “…Gail Dines, chair and professor of American Studies at Wheelock College in Boston, told Mashable the hack represents something more insidious than just standard economics.

“To be unclothed in the face of people who are clothed is to be rendered powerless,” she said. “This is really about humiliating women, degrading them and reducing them to…f*ck objects.”

Dines, author of the book PORNLAND: How Porn has Hijacked our Sexuality, said the release of the private images is behavior typical of a “porn culture” in which women are disposable objects used temporarily, and often brutally, for physical pleasure. In this worldview, women’s bodies are cheap and undeserving of privacy or integrity.

This sounds like sick hyperbole until Dines starts to list the trends she observes as a pornography researcher. In certain threads, male users ask for suggestions on how to find particularly demeaning scenes, like a woman registering physical pain performing certain sexual acts, such as anal sex. Numerous commenters will direct him to a specific film and recommend a scene — down to the second.

In a kind of porn known as “facial abuse,” women are often brought to the brink of asphyxiation. In one recent example, Dines recalled, she watched as a famous porn actress was choked and strangled to the point where her eyes began to roll back into her head. The scene ended with the star in tears, her running mascara mixed with the semen that had been ejaculated into her eyes.”

“University of Chicago Students Plan Field Trips To Kinky Sex Dungeon” (Partially funded by University)

WOW. The University of Chicago is helping to fund some students’ memberships in a sadomasochism club. This is so wrong! In so many ways! Don’t you think?

[The College Fix] — Some University of Chicago students may need to add whips, collars and handcuffs to their back-to-school shopping list.

That’s because the elite private college’s Risk-Awareness Consensual Kink student club, affectionately known around campus as RACK, has plans to take field trips to the local kinky sex club.

The visits are eyed for Galleria Domain 2, the windy city’s “place to explore and satisfy your fetish, kink, leather, and BDSM fantasies,” complete with “three rooms of unique, high quality BDSM furniture, two social areas, and a library,” the club’s website states.

Well, at least it has a library, although I’m not sure how much reading goes on in there.

On May 6, the University of Chicago’s Student Government Finance Committee voted 5-0 to approve $300 to help fund trial memberships for students to the club, described at the meeting as “Chicago’s biggest dungeon.”

It was billed as an “opportunity to connect/engage with the broader Chicago kink community … (and) to engage in BDSM activities that are not suitable/appropriate for spaces that students have access to (i.e., in shared apartments or shared rooms),” according to the meeting’s minutes posted online.

They may have a point. Flogging and electrocution might not play so well in the Max Palevsky Residential Commons.

We’re not sure how or why the parents of these students are allowing this, or why the U.S. government approves loans for young people to “study” and support sadomasochism and abusive sex, but we sincerely hope that concerned parents, professors, students and others speak up to the appropriate parties to help end this insanity.

“As for these colleges’ Bondage, Dominance, Sadism and Masochism events, they unfold against the backdrop of “50 Shades of Grey,” the soft-porn book sensation (and pending Hollywood hit) that helped normalize painful sex.

If behavior modification is the goal, there’s a captive audience at universities (pardon the pun).”

Celeb hacks and NBC producer story (posting nonconsensual sex tape) put spotlight on revenge porn

Here’s some good info on revenge porn, which is something that can severely harm someone’s reputation, career and life in many ways!

“No matter if you’re a celebrity or a regular person, these pictures and videos go viral,” Jacobs told Fox411. “These cyber postings can lead to real life physical attacks, your professional status being compromised as well as your relationship with friends and family suffering. It essentially ruined my life.”

Carrie Goldberg, a New York attorney who litigates online sexual privacy invasions, explained the motivation for those who spread revenge porn.

Britney Spears dumped boyfriend David Lucado ‘because he hooked up with hardcore porn star’

We feel for Britney and for all women whose partners are unfaithful to them because of porn fueling them to act out, whether it’s with non-industry women, or with the fantasy women in porn — in real life, via a webcam while performers are being paid by the minute, (which is increasingly more common), or just by fantasizing about and masturbating to “regular” porn on the Internet. (Yes, we consider that to be cheating, unless both partners know about it and agree to it happening and not being a violation of their fidelity to each other in their relationship.)

Most teenagers think internet pornography is damaging, poll finds (via The Guardian)

A new study shows that most teens know how harmful pornography is:

Internet pornography is having a damaging impact on young people’s views about sex and puts pressure on girls to look and act a certain way, according to a poll of 500 British teenagers.

Eight out of 10 18-year-olds surveyed by the thinktank IPPR felt it was too easy to accidentally view explicit images while surfing the internet, while 72% said pornography led to unrealistic views about sex.

In findings that will add to concerns over the sharing of explicit photographs, 46% of 18-year-olds polled said sending sexual or naked photographs and videos was “part of everyday life for teenagers nowadays”.

“This new polling data shows that pornographic images are pervasive in teenagers’ lives and that young women in particular are acutely conscious of how damaging they can be,” said Dalia Ben-Galim, associate director of IPPR.

Almost eight out of 10 young women said pornography had led to pressure on girls to look and act a certain way, while 66% said “it would be easier growing up if pornography was less easy to access for young people”.

“Why I’m a Man Against Pornography and Prostitution” — by Taylor R. — AntiPornography.org Volunteer

“Why would a man be against pornography and prostitution? Some may be opposed to pornography and prostitution from a religious perspective, viewing nudity as obscene or immoral. Other men might be against pornography and prostitution from the standpoint of someone struggling with addiction. After all, the instant gratification which they provide can be extremely addicting! It can definitely take control over some men’s lives.

But neither of these reasons explain why I am opposed to pornography and prostitution. I do not view nudity as inherently obscene, and as an atheist, I am not religiously averse to healthy premarital sex or healthy sex without the intention of procreation. Pornography and prostitution, however, are not healthy sex. And although I did use pornography prior to seriously considering the reasons why I shouldn’t, I was never an addict.

I am opposed to pornography and prostitution, not for religious or personal reasons, but because they are harmful to women and to society as a whole. The main reason for this is that they objectify women. We have all heard this term, but how many of us have really taken the time to think about what it means? Women are half of the population, and when men view women as commodities to be bought and sold (as is the case with pimps and pornography producers), or rented (as is the case with johns and pornography users), it serves only to divide.”

Burglar Left Porn DVD In 7-Year-Old’s Bedroom – to replace cartoon DVD. He also left threatening sketch

Here is a very bizarre crime involving pornography being brought INTO a house and child’s room, and left by a burglar in the child’s DVD player.

The girl’s mother told police that her daughter woke her up at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, saying a man came into her bedroom, stepped on her bed and jumped out the window, KPTV reports.

When the mother searched the room, she said she found that the cartoon DVD in her daughter’s DVD player had been replaced with a porn movie. Additionally, a photo depicting a sketch of a woman with her hand over a child’s mouth was left in the closet.

An hour later, a woman three miles away reported that she awoke to a strange man standing on her bed. She said she screamed and he ran out of her house.

Apparently this burglar thought that there aren’t enough ways porn is being forced on all of us, and wanted to use porn to more directly terrorize women and children! Very disturbing!

“Mystery man who stole celeb nude pics admits he is on the run” (Says collecting pics was team effort)

Some porn-obsessed Internet hackers decided to steal and expose over 100 female celebrities’ private naked photos.

[The Daily Mail] — “… The hacked nude photographs leaked online of actresses including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton have been traded on the Internet for at least a week and could be just the tip of the iceberg of stolen celebrity pictures.

Exchanged on the deep web black market and deviant message boards specializing in stolen ‘revenge porn’ photography, the compromising pictures have been used as a currency of sorts among perverted members of these forums.

Indeed, in the aftermath of Sunday’s mass dumping of naked pictures, these boards have descended into anarchy and infighting, with a civil war erupting between those who leaked the pictures and those furious their sordid, secret game has been thrown into the public eye.”

These hackers are CRIMINALS engaged in theft, invasion of privacy, and harassment. Their twisted “revenge porn” game may involve famous women instead of former girlfriends, perhaps because they have never had a girlfriend, so instead they resort to this cruel type of “fantasy revenge.” Very disturbing and very wrong!! :-(

Porn Site Uses Real Footage of Drunk Teens Engaging in Sex Acts on Holiday in Spain, without permission

Here’s a new type of porn: teens “going wild” in public, and footage of it being sold online, without their permission. It looks like pornographers will do almost anything to exploit people to make money!

Most of the girls were drunken British teens participating in sex games on boats and clubs. Sex games, shown in the videos posted on the porn site, involved having girls performed actual sex acts with men or random boys and girls being paired up and then cheered on to have sex as the crowd watched them.

And this is going to be on the Internet, following them for the rest of their lives, with pornographers making money off them. Ouch. :-(

Needless to say, this serves as a warning for everyone to never, under any circumstances, get naked and/or have sex in a public or semi-public place where you might be (or are being) filmed!

MMA Fighter “War Machine” Brutally Beats Ex, Porn Actress Christy Mack. Now in Jail. May Get 25 Years.

Porn and professional fighting are both full of violence, so when they mix, “real life” violence is sadly common — as in the case of Jenna Jameson and her ex — MMA fighter Tito Ortiz. Over the past month, a similar saga has played out with MMA fighter “War Machine” (Jonathan Koppenhaver) and his now ex girlfriend, porn performer Christy Mack. Christy describes what happened when “War Machine” went to her house a couple of weeks ago, when she had a male friend visiting with her:

After another hit or two, he left me on the floor bleeding and shaking, holding my side from the pain of a broken rib. He left the room and went to the kitchen where I could hear him ruffling through my drawers. Assuming he was finding a sharper, more stable knife to end my life, I ran out my back door, shutting it behind me so the dogs didn’t run inside to tip him off. I hopped the fence to the golf course behind my house and ran to a neighboring house. Naked and afraid he would catch me, I kept running through the neighborhood knocking on doors. Finally, one answered and I was brought to the hospital and treated for my injuries.

Sadly this is not the first incident of violence between the two:

“Mack has previously tweeted about her boyfriend’s violent tendency.

Fox Sports reports that last November she wrote that Koppenhaver ‘threatened to kill’ her.

She deleted the tweets not long after and Koppenhaver tweeted that she had been joking.

Later, she tweeted that she had endured ‘several slapping, choking unconscious, smothering, kicking and throwings’ at his hands.”

Then “War Machine” went on the lam, and was finally apprehended by the police:

The latest update as of August 24, is that Koppenhaver is in still in jail in California, and that he’s awaiting extradition to Nevada. If convicted, he may serve up to 25 years. More details have also emerged about how Koppenhaver was apprehended. It seems he was turned in by a women who was staying in the same hotel as him, because she heard a fight from his room and witnessed yet another bloodied woman coming from there! (Yet Koppenhaver claims to be a “good guy,” who just likes to do “alpha male sh*t.”)

ANAL SEX STUDY REVEALS CLIMATE OF ‘COERCION’ – Teen boys trying out painful “porn sex” on teen girls

Here’s an alarming study showing how porn is influencing teen boys to coerce girls to submit to painful anal sex. ~~

[Independent] — The interviewed young people rarely spoke of anal sex “in terms of mutual exploration of sexual pleasure”, while condoms were also often not used.

There appeared to be competition between boys to have had anal sex with girls, while the main reason that young people also cited for engaging in the act is that boys “wanted to copy what they saw in pornography and that ‘it’s tighter’”.

Other reasons for wanting to do it include “the claim that ‘people must like it if they do it’ ([despite] the seemingly contradictory expectation that it will be painful for women)”.

“The idea that women would generally not wish to engage in anal sex, and so would need to be either persuaded or coerced, seemed to be taken for granted by many participants,” the study says.

Ouch! We feel very badly for all young women today who are having painful, damaging and risky “porn sex” being forced on them by their porn-brainwashed partners! :-(

What is especially disturbing about this study is that it’s about the type of sex that TEENAGERS are having. (16-18 years old.) So we very much agree with the conclusion by the study authors that proper sex education for teens to address such issues is needed and would be very helpful.
