PORN ACTOR TESTS POSITIVE FOR HIV. Adult industry halts filming; Activists demand condoms on set
There is a new HIV case in the porn industry, which shows very clearly how unsafe an industry it is! Despite this and a recent syphillis outbreak, they still oppose condom law! (NOTE: The performer is a woman and has been identified. See updated info at the bottom of this post.)
How sad, corrupt and exploitative can an industry be, that they still place PROFITS over the health and well-being of their workers? Even some active porn performers are beginning to openly object, which is very rare as they usually get attacked or blacklisted for doing so! Some performers are also considering leaving the industry because of this continuing lack of respect for their health and safety by greedy and uncaring directors, producers and company owners. Examples of performers speaking out below:
There need to be condoms in porn, mandatory. Plain & simple. Testing is not safe enough!

@jhonnyflores34 I already went on a break in June because I wanted to focus on school. Now I don’t think I’m gonna come back
Katja Kassin @KatjaKassin_XXX 19h
@springboksfan I don’t have a choice as a performer. If you ask for a condom you get fired.

@springboksfan I’m not anymore special that the next porngirl. Believe me there is no stardom in porn. u cannot freely choose to use condoms

Syphilis, Hep C and HIV all spreading in the Porn Biz. People seriously Wrap it the F**k Up and Use Condoms! #commonsense

@CourtneyCummz #condoms&testing should be mandatory for both gay and straight #solidify

Here’s a performer who left very recently who is also speaking out in favor of using condoms in porn:
alana evans @alanaevansxxx 19h
I have never really felt this way before but with syphillis, hep c, and HIV being passed in our biz, it’s time for condoms. Protect yourself
alana evans @alanaevansxxx 20h
If we all used condoms, this would not be an issue. Happy to say I haven’t been filming since June. I’m done.

[New York Post - L.A.] — The adult film industry announced a moratorium on the making of porn films Wednesday after an actor tested positive for HIV.
The performer was not immediately identified and officials didn’t say when the positive test was recorded.
The actor’s sex partners are currently being tested by doctors with Adult Production Health and Safety Services, which works with the porn industry.
“The moratorium will be lifted once the risk of transmission has been eliminated,” Diane Duke, executive director of the industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition, told The Associated Press in an email.
She added that the actor is not believed to have been infected on a film set.
The industry briefly put a similar moratorium in place last year after nearly a dozen performers were infected during a syphilis outbreak.
Word of the latest moratorium quickly drew critical responses from porn industry opponents. Among them was Michael Weinstein, whose group the AIDS Healthcare Foundation successfully lobbied voters last year to adopt an ordinance requiring actors use condoms in the making of most porn films.
“How many adult film performers have to become infected with an array of preventable sexually transmitted diseases – including HIV, which is not curable – before the porn industry actually complies with the law requiring condom use,” he said in a statement.
