Two men kidnapped and violently raped a 5-year-old girl after watching porn videos

20130429-153900.jpg

India is having a very strong response to the violent rape of a five year old girl by two men after they watched porn. See below.

WARNING! VERY GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING CONTENT!

[News Point] — After a recent incident of rape of a five-year-old girl in the Indian capital that instigated outrage in the country and across the world, appeals are being made to the apex court to ban pornography completely in the nation.

It was found that the suspects in the sex crime had watched porn videos before the incident. Provoked by the explicit videos in their mobile phone, the men kidnapped a five-year-old girl in eastern New Delhi.

The girl was raped violently by the drunken duo and the girl was left with serious injuries. Doctors recovered candles and bottles from inside the girl, which the criminals had inserted to stop bleeding in the girl after rape.

Anti-porn campaigners are now demanding a complete ban on pornography in the country. Two laws in the country already forbid the creation and distribution of such material under the Information Technology Act (2000) but one after other sex crimes demand for total ban including the technical one. The Supreme Court (SC) has been urged further to take a strict action without any delay as the number of crimes is rising terribly in the country.

http://newspoint.co.za/story/413/3278-sc-urged-ban-pornography-following-horrifying-sex-crimes-india

Note: We here at AntiPornography.org advocate education over banning porn, but we certainly understand why India might be considering banning in light of such horrific crimes against young children by men who are fueled by pornography!

For more info on the connection between pornography and sex crimes, please see the page at our site on this issue. Thanks!

Disturbing statistic! Approximately 85% of porn revenue is generated by 4 countries: the U.S., China, Japan and South Korea

20130425-161644.jpg

Who knew that South Korea was so into producing porn? (And maybe consuming it too.) Wow. Sad.

Not to mention how all that money that people spend on pornography in all of those countries could be used to save so many people from hunger or actually starving to death! Tragic :-(

“The Myth of the Happy Hooker” – Formerly prostituted woman Rachel R. Moran exposes the harsh reality of prostitution

20130424-075305.jpg

PLEASE READ AND SHARE this compelling article about formerly prostituted woman @RachelRMoran and her new book “Paid For”! ~~ It’s very disturbing but very moving and educational!

[Irish Times] — The first man to take Rachel Moran into his car for £10 hand relief in 1987 didn’t care that the 15-year- old was homeless after being thrown out by her mother, who had schizophrenia and was addicted to prescription medication. He didn’t care that her mentally ill, gambling-addicted father had taken his own life. He didn’t care that the social care system had failed her.

He didn’t ask why a child was selling sex on Benburb Street in Dublin 7, or why she had been so utterly abandoned that the homeless 21-year-old pimping her was all she had to hang on to, her only friend in the world, even though she’d known him only a few days. “Take it easy on her, it’s her first time,” the pimp said – rather hypocritically, considering he knew her age was an asset.

All that first punter cared about, and the thousands after him wearing wedding rings and with baby seats in the backs of their cars, was that Moran was 15. Underage sex was, and is, a turn-on for many of the thousands of men – one in 15 – who prostitute 1,000 women and girls every day in Ireland.

“I know of girls of 13 being prostituted today,” says Moran, who is now 37 and whose book, Paid For: My Journey Through Prostitution , will be published next week, with rights already sold in Australia and negotiations under way in the UK and US.

In a week when Real Men Don’t Buy Girls , a social-media campaign by the Immigrant Council of Ireland, was launched in response to the trafficking and prostitution of young girls, Moran’s experience shows that such exploitation is not new to Ireland but that it has grown with the opening of European borders.

Men who prostitute women want to express their hatred of them by hurting them in ways no other woman would endure, Moran says. She recalls a middle-class man, who could be anyone’s husband, calling her to his home and then imposing violent sex on her on his marital bed, in a room whose walls were covered with photographs of his wife and children, as he aroused himself by spewing “disgusting and demeaning” insults about his wife. (In retaliation, and as a message to his wife, Moran rolled her own lipstick under the bed.)

Paid For is no titillating call-girl memoir perpetuating the popular myth of The Happy Hooker , the Pretty Woman redemption, the sexy student enriching her future by being prostituted to pay for her education.

“How glamorous is it, I wonder, to think of a huge heaving fat sweaty man shoving his penis into the most intimate part of your body? The truth is that prostitution is always an affront to human dignity. It is psychosexual bullying. Women in prostitution are not seen as equal humans,” Moran says.

POSTER TEXT:

Sex trafficking is not just girls chained to a bed.

Some of them walk freely, but are coerced into sexual exploitation, lured by dreams of a better life.

When they arrive they are tied into debt bondage; an unrealistic sum owed to their boss.

Prostitution is their only option.

MARKUS’S STORY: I’m Choosing to Quit Watching Porn Because I Want to Respect Women and Myself Again

20130422-132504.jpg

Here’s the sad but hopeful story of Markus, who realized how his pornography use twisted his view of women, and then wisely decided to quit using it! Please share some positive feedback for Markus, to encourage him to continue on this positive path of setting a great example to all men of respecting women and respecting himself. We will make sure he gets it. Thanks! :-)

MARKUS’S STORY (male, 22, Germany, found AntiPornography.org through YouTube, YouTube username = isurugi )

I’M CHOOSING TO QUIT WATCHING PORN BECAUSE I WANT TO RESPECT WOMEN AND MYSELF AGAIN

Thanks to you I have been putting effort into quitting watching porn. So I honestly want to thank you. Because of your blog and the videos you have uploaded to show the painful but undeniable truth, I have been doing my best to quit watching pornography and further show the respect to women that I already had been doing.

The thing is, porn isn’t only unhealthy for the porn stars but for us watchers as well. It twisted my view on women, made me view them as sex objects, and I wouldn’t respect women the way they should be respected. I was always thinking about sexual acts every time I met a new girl or my friends.

It may not be a serious issue now but I know that it is going to screw things up big time later on when I get a girlfriend, a wife, or a family. People think porn is just sex on film, some with fetishes, this and that, but refuse to acknowledge the fact that it corrupts the way the viewers think, which may or may not influence their behavior.

You see, there is this girl I love, and while she may not return the same feelings, I want to respect her as the lady she is, and myself. I didn’t want my “mental addiction” to pornography and my “physical addiction” to jacking off to become an issue, so I decided it’s time to stop. It’s time to quit watching women getting humiliated on the Internet and in the videos. I’m not doing this for this girl I love but for myself. She is someone I care for and she deserves the respect whether or not she returns the feelings. Not only she should be respected, but every other girl out there, even the porn stars who got into the business.

These women in porn are being treated like dirt, like crap, and it made me feel guilty watching them on film. I feel like a jackass attending to my pleasure at other people’s displeasure and misery. But thanks to you it actually struck me and influenced me to quit.

I honestly hope I keep this up, and I thank you for your time.

Yours sincerely

“isurugi”

  • 42.7% of Internet users view porn. (That’s 102,434,567 people.)

  • Porn is roughly a $13,000,000,000 industry.

ENDING THE DEMAND: Ex-prostitute escapes pimp and reclaims her life. Advocates: Pornography fuels prostitution

20130420-125706.jpg

Here is a very moving story that exposes the sad truth about being prostituted as an ‘escort,” how pornography is linked to all types of prostitution, and how it fuels the DEMAND for it that we all must continue to fight. This article is very powerful! PLEASE READ AND SHARE IT. Thanks!

— “Peter Qualliotine, co-founder of Organization for Prostitution Survivors, said a boy’s average age of exposure to pornography is 9. Prostitution and pornography are inseparable, he said at the Federal Way forum, and “one does not exist without the other.”"

[Federalway Mirror] — A local woman’s life took a turn for the worse when she encountered an escort service.

The couple who ran the escort service took her in, and the man became her pimp.

At first, he offered protection and fed her drug habit. He groomed her with a dream of money and security. She sold sex at ritzy parties and rode in flashy cars around the Puget Sound region.

Eventually, the pimp brainwashed her into submission and ruled every aspect of her life. He collected all of her earnings and kept track of her whereabouts at all times via cellphone.

If she failed to earn a daily quota of $1,500, she was beaten and humiliated. He would urinate on her. He whipped her with an electrical cord.

“That was his way of showing me this is just the beginning of what will happen,” said the woman, who requested anonymity for this story out of fear the pimp could retaliate. “I was more afraid of the pimp than the johns.”

The pimp found customers (known as johns) through ads on Backpage.com, Craigslist and alt-weekly papers. Her earnings paid for a house in SeaTac for the pimp and his wife. Thousands of dollars in tricks paid for hotel rooms around the Puget Sound region, including Federal Way and the infamous Aurora Avenue in Seattle. She also worked to pay back the cost of those ads, or pay back bail money if she went to jail.

The johns hailed from all walks of life. Some johns reviewed her services online. Johns would ask for particular kind of girls, which was useful information for pimps.

“I had wigs,” she said. “Sometimes they’d say, ‘I want a blonde.’”

In a typical transaction, the prostitute took care of business with a john while the pimp waited in an adjacent hotel room to collect the money and monitor the time.

The lifestyle left the woman with no choice but to hustle for more money, or face the wrath of her pimp. She recruited other women into the lifestyle to shoulder some of the workload when johns were seeking services at the same time. Several sessions with johns doubled as drug deals. Pimps pressured women to exploit naive customers with blackmail, for example, such as threatening to tell a john’s wife unless he paid hush money.

In total, she had eight prostitution arrests on her record, including an undercover bust in Federal Way. Abused as a child, she was walking Pacific Highway in search of paying customers by age 15. Drugs like heroin became a way to numb herself and cope with the streets, where she had sex to survive.

“I had to be high,” she said. “I had to feel nothing.”

In a twist of fate, a heroin overdose inadvertently marked the turning point in reclaiming her life. While she was hospitalized, the pimp was jailed after a violent spree in search of her.

She formed relationships with people who empowered her. Now in her mid-thirties, she is no longer a victim, but a survivor. She is married. She lives clean and sober with a career in the mental health field. She regained custody of her three children from foster care, and now helps other mothers in similar situations. She hopes to see more reforms in the child welfare system to ensure that youth avoid these abusive relationships.

“My thanks goes to God for sending a man who was a defender of women,” she said, referring to Nick Lembo, who with his wife, Jo, provided a support outlet through Overcomer Covenant Church in Auburn.

“The more eyes and ears on the ground,” said Jo Lembo, “the smaller a pimp’s world gets.”

ENDING DEMAND

A grass-roots movement is under way to end the demand for prostitution, which is tangled in a web of pornography and cultural attitudes.

Prostitution has shifted away from the typical streetwalkers. Nowadays, johns arrange meetings online. Federal Way Police Chief Brian Wilson said officers can put an ad on Craigslist, meet with a potential john and make an arrest, all in a span of two hours.

In 2012, there were 12 prostitution-related investigations in Federal Way, Wilson said, with nine of those initiated by police and one involving a 15-year-old girl.

“It’s much more underground now,” Wilson said during a forum on human trafficking Jan. 9 at City Hall. “This is not a Federal Way issue. It’s a regional issue.”

According to the former prostitute whose story was told above, the deck is stacked against police. An officer must witness a transaction before making an arrest. When police arrest one prostitute, her pimp will find a replacement and take business to another part of the region.

“There’s not much the police can do,” said the woman, suggesting a solution for ending demand: spread awareness among youth.

One place to start is by reshaping the perceptions young men have toward women. Some argue the negative influence of pornography on the male sexual identity, including the accompanying message of objectifying women leads to the creation of unrealistic expectations from sex.

While there is nothing wrong with sex, young men need to be educated on how to use and understand it, according to Nick Lembo from Defenders and Shared Hope International.

Teenager commits suicide after photograph of her ‘being gang-raped’ goes viral and she was brutally bullied

20130417-132925.jpg

Here’s a tragic story of a young Canadian girl who committed suicide after images of her gang rape went viral. It’s being called the “Steubenville” rape case of Canada. So heartbreaking. Needless to say, just like the Stuebenville rape case, we feel that the toxic pornified culture that we live in, that constructs masculinity as it is usually portrayed in porn, as cruel and violent, likely contributed to the behavior of the perpetrators of the rape and the bullying by others. What do you think?

[Telegraph] — Rehtaeh Parsons, 17, was found by her mother in the bathroom of their family home in Nova Scotia shortly after she hanged herself.

Her family said her suicide was the result of almost two years of bullying and depression after a photo purporting to show her being raped by four boys went viral and spread through her school in Dartmouth.

The photo of the incident reportedly also included one of the boys present posing with a smile and a thumbs up.

Speaking to CTV News in Canada, Leah Parsons said the attack occurred in November 2011 when her daughter was just 15. After drinking vodka with others at a friend’s house, Rehtaeh soon became heavily intoxicated.

“The group began drinking vodka straight. Rehtaeh didn’t remember all of it [but] she remembers a guy leading her up the stairs [and] guys taking turns on top of her.”

It was then that the boys took pictures of the attack and of her vomiting out the window.

Her mother said severe bullying and trauma following the incident meant Rehtaeh never fully recovered. According to Ms Parsons, Rehtaeh was repeatedly called a “slut” by fellow pupils and regularly received text messages jokingly asking for sex.

Despite moving schools and to a different community entirely, she continued to suffer from depression and was forced to spend almost six weeks in hospital as she became increasingly suicidal.

She hanged herself on Thursday and was taken off life support by her family on Sunday evening.

In a Facebook page dedicated to the memory of Rehtaeh, which has received support from over 10,000 people, Ms Parsons recalled how the attack had scarred her daughter.

“This day changed the lives of our family forever,” she wrote.

“Rehtaeh was suddenly shunned by almost everyone she knew, the harassment was so bad she had to move out of her own community to try to start anew.

“She acted on an impulse but I truly in my heart of hearts do not feel she meant to kill herself.”

The police did not arrest or convict anyone in connection with the incident, citing a lack of evidence. Authorities have not yet responded to a request from The Telegraph for comment.

Justice Minister Ross Landry has reportedly said he hoped to meet with Ms Parsons soon to discuss the case.

The incident comes just months after another young Canadian teenager took her own life when a topless picture of her taken when she was just 12 spread over the internet.

POSTER: “I can’t be in touch with my own humanity if I’m taking someone else’s humanity away.”

20130416-082725.jpg

Here’s a great anti-porn poster to share with guys you know who use porn that you’re trying to get to quit. (And of course it’s great to also to share with EVERYONE! ;-) )

All people need to understand that buying, watching, and supporting pornography not only robs the PERFORMERS of their humanity, it robs THEM — the VIEWERS — of THEIRS.

Thanks in advance for liking and sharing, and please feel free to comment! We’re always interested in hearing your thoughts! Thanks! :-)

POSTER TEXT:

“Bobby, I just realized something…

…I can’t be in touch with my own humanity if I’m taking someone else’s humanity away. It’s obvious those girls in the lad mags don’t really like being reduced to faceless, nameless holes, called abusive names, and forced to perform painful sex acts – all to personally gratify ME. It’s not right. Today I kick the porn habit. You should too.”

Got humanity?

Give women back their personhood. Stop consuming porn.

NOT FOR SALE MEDIA PROJECT

The Not For Sale Media Project is a mobilization of feminist media makers and grassroots activists that are creatively challenging the mass media’s normalization of prostitution, pornography, and other forms of sexual abuse through the creation and distribution of alternative media. We are creating alternative forms of media that encourage individuals and communities to think more critically about the buying and selling of women’s bodies; the commodification of sex and sexuality; impacts on individuals and groups of people; and alternative visions of sex and sexuality free of power abuse, violence, and hierarchy.

The Not For Sale Media Project is currently embarking on the creation of posters that raise awareness on issues of prostitution, pornography, and trafficking. The posters are 8.5″ x 14″ or 11″ x 17″ in size and are being utilized for public and community education. View some of the posters below. We encourage you to download, print, and circulate them in your own community.

Join our efforts! You do not have to be an artist or graphic designer to take part in the Not For Sale Media Project. The only requirement is that you have a commitment to raising public awareness about the harms of prostitution, pornography, and trafficking. For those interested, design and create a 8.5″X14″ or 11″x17″ poster that educates the public on the realities and harms of prostitution, pornography, and/or trafficking. If you have an idea but don’t know how to turn it into a finished poster, we can help out. POSTER: (Germany) “Whatever Its Legal Status, Prostitution Causes Great Harm to Women”

20130415-032156.jpg

Here’s another great poster on why legalization of prostitution does NOT make it any safer or less harmful and why the “Swedish Model” or “Nordic Model” for addressing prostitution harms is the best possible solution. (Decriminalizing and helping prostituted women, including to exit prostitution and transition if they want to, and educating and holding johns accountable, in order to reduce DEMAND.)

“WHATEVER ITS LEGAL STATUS, PROSTITUTION CAUSES GREAT HARM TO WOMEN.

- In Germany, where brothel prostitution is legal,

59% of German women told researchers that they did not think that legal prostitution made them any safer from rape and physical assault.

Legalization of prostitution does not make women any safer or free. Women need access to real social change that will improve the social, economic, and political quality and status of their lives, not for the sexual use and abuse of them to be permitted and legalized. Alternatives to legalization exist! In 1999, the Swedish Parliament put into effect a law which criminalizes the buying of sexual services but not the selling of sexual services. This is a compassionate, social interventionist legal response to the cruelty and violence of prostitution.”

ABOLITION NOW.
